Article published on the tropicalization of the south coast of Portugal

Published in Diversity magazine 27 March 2019. Available here.

Several records of species that traditionally occur in subtropical waters, such as in the Macaronesia islands, were published.

These records were collected between 2016 and 2018, mainly in the Portimão area, concerning the species Scorpaena maderensis, Thalassoma pavo and Hermodice carunculata, which had not yet been recorded and published in scientific journals.

The balloon fish (Lagocephalus lagocephalus) was recorded for the first time inside the Guadiana estuary, when they normally occur in open sea, far from the coast.
