Several new records of blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) in the Ria Formosa have been published. These records were collected between 2018 and 2019 by local fishermen in shallow areas in the Faro/Olhão area of the Ria Formosa.
It is also recorded the appearance of the species for sale in the Olhão market from the Vila Real de Santo António fish auction.
After the first records in 2016 and 2017, these new data seem to indicate the establishment of this invasive species also in the Ria Formosa.
